Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Emergency Department.

Successful applicants will be highly motivated and competent emergency physicians.

Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 6 months will be considered. If successful, the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.

1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

2. Possess Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award.Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position

3. Sound clinical knowledge in Emergency Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.Proven capacity and / or experience in the provision of effective high quality emergency medicine services and the efficient utilisation of resources.

4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.

5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.Commitment to the career development of junior medical staff.

6. Demonstrates the leadership and negotiation skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.

7. Commitment and / or experience in clinical research and quality improvement to support basic, applied, or clinical research as required within the Department.

8. Proven understanding and demonstrated capacity to comply with the service objectives of the public health organisation. Sound knowledge and understanding of EEO principles and ability to ensure their own and co-workers’ safety by adopting safe work practices and compliance with WH&S policies and procedures.

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Staff Specialists (State) Award
